Extracted with thanks from the blessed book
‘Genesis, The Children of Thoth.’
........................................................................

I hope the following extract from this beautiful book will touch your Soul as it did mine.
........................................................................

“He heard his voice, like the cry of a dying loon, echoing through the room.
He buried his face against both knees and wept.
The sobs wrenched his body about on the stone and punished his ribs with exquisite excess.

Did he enjoy his failures? Did he enjoy his inadequacies?
The thought jerked from his throat a gasp that echoed in the room.
“No!” His mind screamed the words inside his head.
But it was a cry of protest, not of conviction.
“No,” his pride called again, but his conscience whispered its own correction.
“No, no, no, I am not a weakling. I am a champion.
” The spoken words echoed long in the vault of the room, but there was no echo of conviction in his heart.

Slowly his inner voice began to speak.
It seemed that Thoth’s voice filled the room and rumbled in his ears.

“Humankind, in general, likes to fail. For then, like hurt children who return for motherly comfortably can have at least momentary attention and assurance of worth.
For a moment, they can return to the community-blessed safety of non-aloneness. They can forget the terrors that being alone accentuates.
They can be reassured of belonging.

“To many persons, assurance of belonging is more important than success.
Being one of the crowd is more important than leadership
Belonging to the gang is more important than belonging totally to one’s higher self. It is easier, too, for it takes less effort.”

“There is instant reward and gratification for failure.
The gratification and reward for success is sometimes long delayed, or never given, or even denied by authority – or worse, simply ignored after much effort.

A-Sar-U let go his legs in astonishment. It was as if he had read the thoughts of his Master and turned them into words of truth.
Slowly he forced himself into the sitting position and faced the neatly stacked stones against the outer wall.
They were the inert things of life, the innocent sword-dummy.
Things that were made important so that truly important things could not enter.
Empty things, habits, thoughts!
Baseless daydreams and uncontrolled night dreams that took time, thought and energy away from self-improvement and progress toward a goal..
A goal. His goal!

Empty Your mind of all thoughts
Let your heart be at peace
Watch the turmoil of beings
But contemplate their return.

Each separate being in the Universe
returns to the common source.
Returning to the source is serenity.

If you don’t realise the source,
You stumble in confusion and sorrow.
When you realise where you came from,
You naturally become more tolerant,
Disinterested, amused, kind hearted
As a Grandmother, dignified as a King.
Immersed in the wonder of the Tao you can deal with whatever life brings you
And when death comes, you are ready.
